Staff frontend & product engineer

I build frontend systems that make complex products easier to ship.

Across BuzzFeed and Complex Networks, I turned AI workflows, editorial tools, publisher platforms, and custom advertising into reusable product systems. My focus is clarifying ambiguous work, designing the contract between interfaces and services, and leaving teams with a better path to the next launch.

How I create leverage

Staff impact through systems, not just launches.

I work where product definition meets frontend architecture. That often means taking a loosely defined request, finding the durable technical model inside it, and aligning product, engineering, and operations around something teams can build and maintain.

At BuzzFeed, that looked like connecting LLM output, editor state, live previews, and canvas rendering through shared data contracts. It also meant reshaping campaign tooling around the real workflow used by engineering, RevTech, and AdOps—and making the case for dedicated infrastructure when the existing stack imposed limits.

Earlier, at Complex Networks, I modernized a publisher platform deployed across more than 100 partner sites and co-architected the tooling used to manage and ship rich-media campaigns. The thread across the work is the same: make complexity explicit, build the reusable layer, and keep delivery moving.

Experience

Growing scope from execution to architecture.

The two roles most relevant to my current work, followed by the earlier product experience they build on.

Earlier foundation

2012 — 2020

Independent mobile products

Conceived, designed, and shipped four Android utility apps through Gadget Judge.

2017

Freelance web development

Built a responsive, performance- and SEO-focused retail site for Zingale & Co.

2009 — 2012

Junior web development

Built an e-commerce store and landing pages for local businesses at WhatWorks.

2006 — 2011

B.Tech., Computer Systems

New York City College of Technology.

The decisions behind the shipped work.

These are architecture summaries, not invented outcome stories. Each one separates the problem, my contribution, and the evidence available.

01

AI creation platform · BuzzFeed

One data contract from prompt to editable canvas

Problem

AI experiences were becoming a family of products: user input had to become structured model output, flow into a live preview, and remain editable inside a visual builder.

My contribution

Led core engineering for Generator Generator and BF Island Builders. Designed the relationship among JSON configuration, Mustache variables, LLM output, editor state, shared APIs, renderers, and a Fabric.js canvas layout block.

Leverage created

Refactored the approach toward shared components and configuration-driven formats, establishing a reusable path for new builders instead of treating each experience as a standalone implementation.

Campaign operations · BuzzFeed

A delivery platform shaped around the people using it

Problem

Custom campaigns crossed engineering, revenue technology, and AdOps, while the existing asset workflow constrained the formats the team could deliver.

My contribution

Defined requirements and technical architecture with the teams doing the work. Rebuilt the flow for managing, previewing, packaging, and deploying campaigns around their actual handoffs rather than a generic CMS model.

Leverage created

Made the business and technical case for dedicated S3 infrastructure, removing asset-type limitations and giving custom formats a more flexible delivery path.

Publisher platform · Complex Networks

Platform scale and custom ad engineering across 100+ sites

Problem

A large publisher network needed consistent advertising, video, analytics, and configuration behavior across many independently operated sites—while branded campaigns still demanded custom, highly interactive executions.

My contribution

Modernized and optimized Catalyst Creator, the JavaScript platform that centralized those capabilities and integrations. Alongside the platform work, built a conservatively estimated 250+ branded campaigns across standard, animated, audio, and custom responsive formats.

Leverage created

Maintained a shared layer for delivery and measurement while extending the creative surface with reusable patterns for takeovers, skins, overlays, expandable units, content effects, and other bespoke campaign ideas.

Focused launches built on those systems

AI product foundation

AI Quizzes & Chats

Evolved a proof of concept into four production quiz experiences and a base other engineers used for later products.

High-priority launch

Drake AI Filter

Shipped an unplanned AI experience in 2.5 days under a compressed timeline.

Brand constraints

Sprite: 50 Years of Hip Hop

Iterated on prompt guardrails for an open-ended branded conversation that could not name musical artists directly.

Capabilities

Frontend depth with product-system range.

My strongest work connects interface architecture to the services, workflows, and operational constraints around it. The list below is intentionally weighted toward current senior/staff frontend and product-engineering work.

Frontend product systems

React, modern JavaScript, HTML, CSS, component architecture, JSON-driven interfaces, Canvas API, Fabric.js

AI and integration

Structured LLM output, prompt design, streaming flows, OpenAI and Replicate APIs, REST APIs, validation and rendering contracts

Platforms and delivery

Node.js and CLI tooling, CMS architecture, AWS S3 asset pipelines, Google Ad Manager, analytics, Video.js and JW Player

Prior full-stack range

Angular, PHP, Laravel, Java, Android development, responsive e-commerce, performance and SEO
